Standing with Immigrants

District 18 is so fortunate to be one of the most diverse communities in the county and state. As the daughter of immigrants, and the proud spouse of one, Emily is deeply passionate about the need to stand with and protect our vibrant community as we recover from years of attacks at the federal level.

As your Delegate, Emily has been proud to support significant legislative gains for our immigrant neighbors and friends, including an expansion to the nation’s largest earned income tax credit to provide direct cash to working families, including those with ITIN numbers are eligible. She has also supported the passage of the Maryland Trust Act which will help to rebuild trust between our law enforcement officers and all members of our community. She has also voted to support reforms to the Maryland Dream Act to ensure that the hundreds of beneficiaries of the program in our county are able to pursue their educational dreams.

Emily knows that the community is strongest when our diversity is harnessed, and a plurality of perspectives shapes our policy decision making. If reelected, she will fight for policies to ensure that everyone, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, country of origin or immigration status is able to contribute and thrive in our beautiful community.
